COVID-19

Following the recent developments and updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alberta Equestrian Federation has made the decision to cancel equestrian-related activities effective March 16 - April 19, 2020 (subject to change as updates are provided).

Following the most recent information provided by the Province of New Brunswick, and in consultation with Equestrian Canada, the NBEA is taking the following actions in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic:

Equestrian Events Inc. (EEI) is cancelling the 2020 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by MARS Equestrian™ and the Kentucky CSI3* Invitational Grand Prix presented by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. The events had been scheduled for April 23 - 26, 2020 at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington KY.

Following last week’s communiqué to National Federations on the recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) regarding Mass Gatherings and the necessity of Event Organisers to conduct a full risk assessment together with local authorities, the FEI has issued a further message to the equestrian community...

Live Harness Racing Will Continue without Spectators at Woodbine Mohawk Park - In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in the interest of the safety of customers, employees, horsepeople and the larger community, Woodbine Entertainment announced today that it will be closing Woodbine Mohawk Park and Woodbine Racetrack to the general public for a minimum of two weeks.

March 14, 2020 - The organizers of the Kamloops Cowboy Festival regret to inform the public that due to the circumstances beyond their control, they have decided to cancel the March 19 - 22, 2020 Festival. If you have already purchased tickets you will be refunded on the credit card that you used to purchase them. There is no need to contact festival organizers. If you booked a room at the Coast Hotel in the Cowboy Festival block it will be cancelled automatically. If you booked a room somewhere else you should phone them directly to cancel. March 23, 2020 – In its daily situation review, the Spruce Meadows Organizing Committee and the Spruce Meadows Crisis Management Committee have arrived at the decision to cancel the remainder of the Winter Farewell tournament’s weekend competitions currently scheduled for March 14 and 15.

Lausanne (SUI), 13 March, 2020 - The International Equestrian Federation (FEI), United States Equestrian (USEF) and Las Vegas Events have announced the force majeure cancellation of the FEI World Cup™ Finals 2020 in Las Vegas. The annual equestrian competition, featuring the Olympic disciplines of Jumping and Dressage, was scheduled for April 15 - 19, 2020, at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Last night the Governor of Oregon announced a ban on all gatherings over 250 people, effective immediately for a period of four weeks. This leaves us with no choice but to cancel the 2020 Northwest Horse Fair & Expo, scheduled for March 20 - 22, 2020, in Albany, Oregon. It is an unavoidable but heartbreaking turn of events for all of us involved.
